About the Band
Saliva Birds were formed in the medieval backstreets of York in 2022. They are a raw, high
energy fusion of garage rock grit and post-grunge angst. Born out of middle aged boredom
and a shared love of distortion-drenched riffs, the band channels the spirit of their
generation into a cathartic, unapologetic sound.
Their music fuses the pulse of 90s grunge and and the edge of 70s punk that creates moody
introspection and garage rock’s snarly intensity, blending crashing drums and roaring guitars
and vocals that swing from gutteral shouts to aching melodies.
They have released four tracks on Spotify and have videos on Youtube. Their
last single ‘Time is Out’ was chosen for a BBC Introducing playlist in 2024. They’ve played a
handful of live shows across York and Hull and are keen to play many more gigs in 2025.
